Where the Past Meets the Future — Written by Students, for Students.

Welcome to Historicity Journal, the history journal powered by the next generation of scholars. We spotlight the best student research, fresh perspectives, and bold ideas that are shaping how we understand the past — and where we’re headed next.

What is Historicity?

Founded in 2025, our student-led subcommittee created Historicity Journal to spotlight outstanding historical research by emerging scholars. But we’re not just about essays — we’re unique in publishing creative historical art, fiction, and experimental writing alongside traditional scholarship. Our mission is to give students a dynamic platform to share their work, challenge conventional narratives, and reimagine how history is told. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to rigorous inquiry, we aim to inspire fresh conversations about the past — and shape the future of historical storytelling.

Acknowledgement of Country

Historicity and the Griffith Historical Society acknowledge the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, and Turrbal peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Griffith University’s Nathan campus is situated. We recognise their ongoing connection to land, waters, skies, and culture, and we pay our deepest respects to their Elders past and present. We also extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across this continent.

This land was, is, and always will be Aboriginal land.
